Cap. 1A Big Birthday Surprise for Ben

After the cake, Ben wanted to play. He looked for his favorite red ball. It was soft and perfect for bouncing. He looked near the tall flower pots. He looked under the long wooden bench. He looked behind the big oak tree. The ball was not there. Ben looked everywhere in the garden. He could not find his favorite toy. Ben felt a heavy feeling in his chest. The bright sun did not feel warm anymore. He sat down on the soft grass. He put his head down low. His ears did not stand up tall. Tiny tears began to fall from his eyes. He cried very softly in the quiet garden. He felt very alone and very sad. Where could his favorite ball be? He had searched every single spot. The party did not feel fun now. BEN IS SAD.

Suddenly, Ben heard a loud noise. He looked up from the green grass. A friend was running across the yard. The friend had something in his hands. It was Ben’s favorite red ball! The friend had taken it without asking. Ben waited for his friend to share. But the friend said no very loudly. He would not give the ball back. Ben felt a change in his body. His face turned very bright red. His eyebrows went down in the middle. He squeezed his paws into tight fists. His whole body felt very stiff and hard. He felt like a volcano ready to pop. He was not crying anymore. He was very cross with his friend. This was a very mean thing to do. Ben stood up straight and frowned hard. He wanted his ball right this minute. BEN IS ANGRY.
