Synopsis
A princess named Lucía, who dislikes courtly life, finds and nurses an injured hummingbird. Their bond helps her avoid an arranged marriage and allows her to live a life dedicated to nature and freedom.
Había una vez una princesita llamada Lucía. No era una princesa cualquiera. Lucía detestaba los bailes de salón y los vestidos pomposos. Prefería corretear por los jardines del castillo, hablar con los jardineros y, sobre todo, observar a los pájaros. Un día, mientras exploraba la rosaleda, encontró un pequeño colibrí, temblando y con una ala lastimada. Lucía lo recogió con cuidado y lo llevó a su habitación secreta, un desván lleno de libros y objetos olvidados. Allí, lo llamó Cielo por el color de sus plumas. Lucía lo curó pacientemente, alimentándolo con néctar de flores y hablándole con suavidad. Día tras día, el vínculo entre la princesita y el colibrí se hacía más fuerte. Lucía descubrió que Cielo podía entenderla, y que a través de él, sentía la libertad que tanto anhelaba. La reina, preocupada por la falta de interés de Lucía en el protocolo real, planeaba un matrimonio arreglado con un príncipe poderoso pero distante. Lucía, desesperada, le confió su tristeza a Cielo. El colibrí, recuperado y fuerte, voló fuera de la ventana. Al día siguiente, el príncipe llegó al castillo, pero antes de que pudiera proponer matrimonio, un enjambre de colibríes inundó el salón. Entre ellos, Cielo se posó en la cabeza del príncipe, picoteando su corona hasta que la tiró al suelo. El príncipe, humillado y asustado, huyó del castillo. La reina, asombrada por el espectáculo, se dio cuenta del poder del amor y la amistad que unía a Lucía y Cielo. Comprendió que forzar a Lucía a un matrimonio infeliz solo la haría infeliz. Finalmente, la reina permitió que Lucía viviera libremente y se dedicara a cuidar los jardines del castillo, llenándolos de flores para Cielo y sus amigos. Lucía nunca se casó, pero vivió feliz, rodeada de la belleza de la naturaleza y la compañía de su pequeño amigo colibrí.
