Once upon a time, there was a prince named Hamlet. He lived in a big castle called Elsinore. The castle was made of cold, gray stone. Hamlet was a young boy with messy black hair. He wore a small gold crown on his head. Hamlet was very sad because his father was gone. One night, a strange purple mist filled the garden. A tall, purple figure floated through the trees. It was a ghost! Hamlet felt his heart go thump-thump. "Where did you come from?" Hamlet asked. "Are you from heaven or from hell?" The ghost spoke in a very deep voice. "I am the ghost of your father," it said. Hamlet felt a big chill in the air. The ghost looked very tired and very sad. "Your uncle Claudius was not a kind man," it said. "He put poison in my ear while I slept." Hamlet could not believe his own ears. His uncle was the new King of Denmark! This was a very big and dark secret. The ghost asked Hamlet to remember him forever. Then, the purple mist vanished into the night sky. Hamlet was left all alone in the dark garden.
