The Friendship Recipe
Oliver, a lover of rules, and Mia, a lover of chaos, are paired together for a school baking project. After a floury disaster, they learn that the secret to a great cake—and a great friendship—is a mix of patience, listening, and a lot of laughter.

In the sun-drenched classroom of Room 2B, two children sat at opposite ends of the world—or so it seemed. Oliver was a boy of straight lines and quiet whispers. His desk was a masterpiece of organization, with pencils sharpened to identical points and erasers that had never known a smudge. Across the room sat Mia. Mia was a whirlwind of bright colors and loud giggles. Her desk was an explosion of glitter, half-finished drawings, and at least three different shades of clay stuck to her ruler. On Tuesday, their teacher, Mrs. Gable, made an announcement that made Oliver’s stomach do a nervous flip and Mia’s eyes dance with excitement. 'Class, we are going to celebrate the Primary School Fair by baking the Great Friendship Cake! I have paired you up, and you must work together to create something special.' When Mrs. Gable called out, 'Oliver and Mia,' Oliver let out a tiny sigh. Mia, meanwhile, hopped over to his desk like a caffeinated sparrow. 'This is going to be amazing, Ollie! I want to make a cake that looks like a rainbow and tastes like a party!' Oliver adjusted his glasses. 'Actually, Mia, the recipe says it should be a classic vanilla sponge. It requires precise measurements.' The next afternoon, the duo stood in the school kitchen. Oliver had already lined up the measuring cups, the scales, and a timer. He had a notebook ready to check off each step. Mia arrived wearing a bright yellow apron covered in hand-painted stars, carrying a bag of chocolate chips, three types of sprinkles, and a jar of strawberry jam she’d found in her pantry. 'First, we cream the butter and sugar,' Oliver said, his voice steady. 'Exactly two hundred grams of each.' 'Bor-ing!' Mia sang, already reaching for the flour. 'Let’s just toss it all in and see what happens! That’s how my grandma does it, and her cookies are legendary.' 'But if we don't follow the recipe, it won't rise,' Oliver insisted, his knuckles whitening as he gripped the wooden spoon.
