Kap. 1The Grumpy Bear and the Fast Bird

Suddenly, a small blue bird flies down very fast. This is Pip. He is a very small blue bird. Pip is a very nervous bird. He talks very, very fast. "This is my spot! This is my spot!" Pip says quickly. Bramble looks at the tiny bird. Bramble's deep voice shakes the green leaves. "I was here first," Bramble grumbles. He is shy but he is also grumpy. Pip flaps his wings in a big panic. "No, no, no! I need this grass!" Pip chirps. They both want the same sunny square. Bramble wants to roar very loud. Pip wants to peck the big bear's nose. It is a big problem in the woods. The air feels tense and very loud. Finley stands up slowly to help them. He does not like to see fights. He knows words are better than teeth. He walks to the middle of the grass. He looks at Bramble and Pip. He gives them a warm look. He wants to find a funny way to stop the noise. The bird is zoom-zooming around the bear's head.

Finley walks to his two angry friends. He looks at them with kind eyes. "Wait, friends," Finley says very softly. He listens to the big bear first. Then he listens to the fast bird. Finley understands their feelings very well. "Bramble needs a nap," Finley says. "Pip needs to hide his many seeds." Finley shows them a very good idea. "The spot is big enough for two." Bramble sits on the left side. Pip stays on the right side. They both feel very happy now. No one is angry or sad anymore. They use kind words to say thank you. Finley is happy to see peace in the forest. It is a very good day to be a fox. But then, they hear a very loud noise. A strange golden key falls from a tall tree. It lands right in front of them. It is big and shiny. Where did this key come from? Bramble looks at Pip. Pip looks at Finley. The adventure is just beginning for the three friends. They must find the door for the golden key soon.
