Suddenly, the singing grew louder. Mateo followed the sound to a clearing. There, he saw a woman with long dark hair and glowing eyes. She stood under the stars, singing to the night. 'Help me, little friend,' she said. 'Tie me with a rope, and I will take you to the city.' Mateo hesitated. Something about her felt both kind and strange.
