Lila had always loved the night sky. Every evening, she would sit on the creaky wooden bench by her grandmother’s garden and point out the stars. One night, as the moon hung low and the wind whispered through the trees, she noticed something strange — a soft, golden glow drifting above the rooftops. It was a lantern, floating gently in the sky like a firefly in a dream.
"Grandma, look!" Lila called, her voice full of wonder. Her grandmother, who had been sipping tea and knitting a blanket, peered up and smiled. "That’s the Lantern of Light, dear. It appears only when someone’s heart is full of kindness."
Curious and excited, Lila grabbed her sweater and climbed onto the roof. The lantern hovered just above her, pulsing with a warm, inviting glow. "Where are you going?" she asked, reaching out with her hand. The lantern hummed and swirled, guiding her toward the edge of the village.
As Lila followed the lantern, she met old Mr. Thistle, who was struggling to light his lantern for the night. She helped him, and the lantern shone brighter. Then she met little Mira, who had lost her way, and she showed her the path home. The lantern floated with them, lighting the way. When they reached the village square, the lantern hovered above the fountain, and a soft wind carried with it a single, glowing seed.
Lila planted the seed that night, and by morning, it had grown into a tree with golden leaves that shimmered in the sunlight. The villagers marveled at it, and from that day on, the village was never without light — even on the darkest nights.
The moral is: A kind heart can light the way for others, even when the path is unclear.
