Jane Goodall and Jubilee

When Jane Goodall was young, like you, she lived in London with her mom and dad.

On her birthday, her dad gave her a present. “This is for you, Jane!”

“A stuffed chimpanzee! I’ll call him Jubilee!” said Jane. She gave him a big hug.

Her mom’s friends didn’t like Jubilee. “It’s scary!” they said.

“I know it’s not a regular teddy bear, but I love it!” Jane replied.

Jane took Jubilee everywhere. They went to the park and played on the slide. They also went to restaurants. Jane gave Jubilee some watermelon because she knew chimpanzees liked it!

At night, Jane slept with Jubilee. Before she fell asleep, she said, “When I grow up, I want to learn about chimpanzees!”

When Jane grew up, she went to Africa. She watched chimpanzees in the forest and learned how they lived, played, and cared for their families. She discovered amazing things about them. Her work helped people understand animals and nature better.

Jane loved animals and wanted to protect them. She traveled around the world and asked people to help animals and nature.

She also visited Argentina several times! She met children and young people and talked to them about protecting animals and the planet. She wanted everyone to know that they could make a difference.

Jane stayed curious, patient, and hopeful. She worked to protect animals until she died in 2025.

She always remembered that her love for chimpanzees started with a special present: Jubilee.
