One bright morning on the edge of a quiet forest, a small chicken named Little pecked at a worm near the edge of the woods. The sun was just rising, casting golden light over the tall grass and whispering trees. Suddenly, a loud *thud* echoed through the forest. Little stopped in her tracks, her feathers fluffing up in surprise. She looked up and gasped. A big, round object had fallen from the sky, landing with a soft *thump* just a few feet away. 'The sky is falling!' Little cried, her voice high and full of worry. 'We have to run!' she clucked to herself, but she stayed frozen in place, eyes wide with fear.
A few minutes later, a rabbit named Rosie hopped by, munching on a daisy. 'What's wrong, Little?' she asked, her ears twitching. 'The sky is falling!' Little wailed. Rosie tilted her head. 'That's not true. You're just seeing a falling star.' 'A falling star? But it landed right here!' Little pointed at the round object. Rosie sniffed it. 'This is just a moon rock. It's from the sky, but it doesn't mean the sky is falling. It just means something from up there came down.'
Little's eyes still looked worried, though. 'But what if more fall? What if the whole sky comes down?' she asked. Rosie sighed. 'Then we need to find someone who knows more. Maybe the wise old owl, Hoot.'
So, Little and Rosie set off through the forest, the sun now higher in the sky. Along the way, they met a squirrel named Sammy who was busy collecting acorns. 'What's all the fuss about?' he asked. 'The sky is falling!' Little repeated. Sammy stopped in his tracks. 'That sounds dangerous. Are you sure?' 'I saw it!' Little insisted. Sammy nodded. 'Then we need to go with you. It's better safe than sorry.'
Together, the three friends reached a tall tree where Hoot, the old owl, lived. Hoot was perched on a branch, eyes glowing in the sunlight. 'What troubles you, little ones?' he asked. 'The sky is falling!' Little cried. Hoot blinked slowly. 'The sky is not falling. You saw a meteor, a rock from space. It's harmless. But I'm glad you came to me. You showed courage and kindness by coming to get help.'
Little looked around at her friends. Rosie, Sammy, and even Hoot were smiling. She felt a warm, happy feeling in her chest. 'So the sky isn't falling?' she asked, her voice quieter now. 'No,' Hoot said. 'It's just a reminder that even the biggest things can be understood with kindness and a little help.'
That night, as the stars began to twinkle above the forest, Little lay on the soft grass, her friends curled up beside her. The sky was peaceful, not falling, but full of wonder. 'I think I'll sleep better now,' she said, closing her eyes. 'Because I know my friends are with me.' And with that, the forest fell into a calm, sleepy hush, the stars shining down like gentle eyes watching over them.
The moral of the story is: Even when something seems scary, kindness and courage can help you find the truth.
