The City of a Thousand Trades!

In the City of a Thousand Trades, there lived a girl named Sofía. Sofía was seven years old, with a huge imagination and an even bigger curiosity. She loved watching people and always asked: 'What do you do? Why do you do it? Can I help you?'

One sunny day, Sofía decided to explore the city. She left her house with her backpack full of cookies and her drawing notebook. First, she met Mrs. Elena, the baker. Mrs. Elena, with her white hat and warm smile, was baking bread. 'Hello, Sofía! Would you like a fresh little loaf?', she asked.

Sofía, with shining eyes, accepted the loaf. 'Mrs. Elena, what do you like most about being a baker?', asked Sofía, while nibbling the loaf.

'I love seeing the happy faces when people taste my bread,' replied Mrs. Elena. 'It's like sharing a little piece of joy.'

Then, Sofía continued on her way and met Mr. Ricardo, the firefighter. Mr. Ricardo was cleaning the fire truck, which was bright red and very big. 'Good morning, Mr. Ricardo! Can I see the truck?', asked Sofía with excitement.

Mr. Ricardo smiled and invited her to climb up. 'This truck helps us put out fires and save people,' he explained. 'It's an important job, but also very rewarding.' Sofía imagined herself as a brave firefighter, putting out fires and rescuing kittens from trees.

Her next stop was at Mrs. Clara's flower shop. The flower shop was full of colors and wonderful scents. Mrs. Clara was arranging a bouquet of roses. 'What beautiful flowers, Mrs. Clara!', exclaimed Sofía.

'Thank you, Sofía. Flowers brighten people's days,' said Mrs. Clara. 'When someone is sad or needs a little comfort, a flower can make all the difference.' Sofía felt the softness of the petals and the sweet scent of the roses.

Later, Sofía arrived at the park and saw Mr. Antonio, the gardener. Mr. Antonio was planting flowers and tending the grass. 'Mr. Antonio, why do you like being a gardener?', asked Sofía.

'I like seeing how the plants grow and bloom,' replied Mr. Antonio. 'It's like creating a little paradise for everyone to enjoy.' Sofía helped him plant a small daisy.

As the sun began to set, Sofía met Doctor Isabel, who was coming out of her office. Doctor Isabel always had a kind smile. 'Hello, Doctor Isabel! What do you do?', asked Sofía.

'I help people feel better when they are sick,' explained Doctor Isabel. 'It's important to take care of our health so we can play and learn.' Sofía remembered when she had the flu and Doctor Isabel made her feel better.

Finally, Sofía arrived at the town square and saw Mr. Pablo, the teacher. Mr. Pablo was reading a book to a group of children. 'Mr. Pablo! What do you like about being a teacher?', asked Sofía.

'I like teaching new things to children and seeing how they learn and grow,' replied Mr. Pablo. 'It's like planting seeds of knowledge in their hearts.' Sofía felt a great admiration for Mr. Pablo.

Sofía returned home with a heart full of joy. She had learned a lot about the different professions in her city. She realized that every job was important and contributed to making the City of a Thousand Trades a special place. That night, Sofía dreamed that she was a baker, firefighter, florist, gardener, doctor, and teacher, all at the same time. What an adventure!

The next day, Sofía went to school and drew all the trades she had met. She gave the drawing to her teacher, who hung it on the wall so everyone could see the wonderful City of a Thousand Trades. And Sofía, with a smile, knew that someday, she too would find her own trade to make the world a better place.
