One quiet night, the moon hung high in the sky, glowing softly over the forest. But something felt different. The moon’s light was dim, and her usual song — the lullaby she sang to sleepy animals and children — had gone silent. The stars twinkled, but they couldn’t understand why the moon was so quiet. The fireflies buzzed, the owls hooted, and the crickets chirped, but none of them could coax the moon to sing again.
A small hedgehog named Hazel, who loved the moon’s lullaby more than anything, noticed. She looked up at the moon and asked, “Why aren’t you singing tonight?” The moon whispered, “I’ve forgotten my song. I can’t remember how to make the world feel safe and sleepy.” Hazel’s heart ached for the moon. She decided to help her friend.
Hazel gathered the stars, the crickets, the fireflies, and even the owls. Together, they sang the lullaby they remembered from nights past. The moon listened, and slowly, her glow returned. She began to hum, then sing, and soon the entire forest was wrapped in a warm, sleepy glow. The moon’s voice was soft, but it filled the night with comfort and love.
From that night on, the moon never forgot her lullaby again. And every time she sang, Hazel would curl up beneath the trees, listening to the gentle melody. The moon, the stars, and the forest creatures knew that even when we feel lost, we are never alone — and sometimes, the smallest friend can help us find our way home.
