One night, the moon shone bright and round, but something was wrong. It had no shadow. The stars blinked in confusion, and the forest animals whispered, 'The moon has lost its shadow!' No one knew what to do, and the nights grew strange and silent without it.
Pip the hedgehog, who was known for his quick thinking and soft, velvety fur, decided to help. 'I'll find the shadow,' he said, tying a leaf around his head like a hat. He hopped through the whispering woods, past the giggling willows and the sleeping owls. The wind carried a faint hum, like a lullaby, and the air smelled of lavender and moonlight.
Deep in the valley of the forgotten dreams, Pip found the shadow curled up like a sleepy kitten. 'Why are you here?' Pip asked. The shadow yawned. 'I got tired of being so heavy and lonely. I wanted to rest.' Pip smiled. 'Then I'll carry you home.' He gently lifted the shadow and placed it on his back. 'You'll be safe with me.'
As Pip climbed the hill and reached the sky, he placed the shadow back on the moon. The stars cheered, and the moon smiled in gratitude. The forest was quiet again, but now it was peaceful, safe, and full of wonder. Pip returned home, tired but happy. From that day on, the moon's shadow never wandered far from its place.
