Is Three Little Pigs a Fairy Tale?

Once upon a time in a sunny meadow, there lived three little pigs named Pippin, Pippa, and Pongo. They were the talk of the forest, always playing and giggling as they chased butterflies and made mud pies in the spring rain. One day, they decided it was time to build their own homes. Pippin, the youngest, said, 'I’ll build mine out of straw, it’s light and fun!' Pippa, the middle pig, giggled, 'I’ll use sticks, they’re easy to find!' But Pongo, the oldest, frowned. 'I’ll build my house of bricks, strong and tall, so no one can blow it down.'

The next morning, Pippin’s straw house was up, and the breeze from a passing breeze blew it down with a whoosh! Pippin cried, 'Oh no!' But Pippa’s stick house held up until the wind howled again, and it too collapsed. Pippin and Pippa ran to Pongo’s brick house, where they were safe. 'Thank you, Pongo,' said Pippa, 'you were wise to build strong.'

Then came a soft rustle in the woods. A wolf with a woolly coat and a sly smile peeked out from behind a tree. 'Hello, little pigs!' he said, winking. 'I heard you have some tasty stories to share.' Pippin and Pippa shivered. 'We don’t have any stories,' said Pippa, 'we have a house made of bricks.' The wolf laughed. 'Ah, but I can still huff and puff and blow it down!' He tried, but the bricks held firm. 'Hmm, clever pigs!' he said, and slinked away.

But the wolf wasn’t done yet. That night, he sneaked back and tried to trick the pigs with a plan. 'I’ve brought you a gift!' he said, holding a basket of golden apples. 'They’re from the Enchanted Orchard, just for you!' Pippin and Pippa were tempted, but Pongo said, 'That’s a trick, I’ve heard of it before.' The wolf scowled, 'You pigs are smarter than I thought!' and left again, grumbling.

The next day, the three pigs invited all their forest friends to a party in Pongo’s brick house. The squirrels brought acorns, the rabbits brought carrots, and even the shy hedgehog brought a tiny cake. The wolf watched from the trees, feeling lonely. 'Why can’t I be friends with them?' he thought. Then, with a deep sigh, he walked up to the house and said, 'I’m sorry for trying to trick you. I wish I could be your friend.' Pippin, Pippa, and Pongo looked at each other and smiled. 'We’d love to have you at our party!' they said.

The wolf joined them, and they all had a grand time, sharing stories and laughing until the stars came out. From that day on, the wolf was no longer a threat, but a friend who learned the value of kindness and honesty. And the three little pigs lived happily ever after, in their strong brick house, with friends old and new.
