Mary's Shining Secret

In a little town called Nazareth, there lived a young girl named Mary. She was known for her kindness and her heart full of joy. She loved helping her mom around the house, taking care of the little lambs, and singing songs while weaving beautiful colorful blankets.

One day, while Mary was sitting by the window, reading an old storybook, she felt a warm light fill the room. When she looked up, oh, what a surprise! An angel, with wings as bright as the sun, was standing in front of her. The angel smiled, and his voice was like heavenly music.

"Hello, Mary!" said the angel. "Don't be afraid. God is very happy with you."

Mary was scared at first, but the angel's smile calmed her. "Who are you?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"I am Gabriel, a messenger of God," replied the angel. "I have come to tell you something very special. God has chosen you for an important mission."

Mary's eyes widened. Her? An important mission? She couldn't believe it.

"You will have a baby," continued Gabriel, "and you will name him Jesus. He will be the Son of God, and his kingdom will never end. He will bring peace and love to the whole world."

Mary was amazed. She was a young girl who had not yet married. "How can this be?" she asked.

The angel smiled gently. "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with his shadow. That is why the holy child who will be born will be called the Son of God. Look, your relative Elizabeth, despite her age, is also pregnant. For God, nothing is impossible!"

Mary felt a deep peace in her heart. She knew this was something very big, something that would change the world forever. With courage and confidence, she replied: "I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you have said."

After saying these words, the angel Gabriel disappeared, leaving Mary with a heart full of joy and a little fear. She ran to tell her mom what had happened. Her mom, though surprised, hugged her with lots of love and told her that God would always protect her.

Mary decided to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who lived in a distant city. Elizabeth was very happy to see Mary, and when she heard her greeting, the baby in her womb jumped with joy. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! How have I deserved to have the mother of my Lord come to visit me? Happy are you who have believed, for what was spoken to you by the Lord will be fulfilled!"

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months, helping her and learning a lot from her. They sang songs of joy and hope together, waiting for the birth of their babies.

When the time came, Mary returned to Nazareth. Joseph, her betrothed, was very confused to learn that she was going to have a baby. He didn't understand how this could be possible. He was very sad and thought about leaving her in secret, so as not to shame her.

But one night, while Joseph was sleeping, an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel said: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child she carries is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

When Joseph woke up, he obeyed the angel and welcomed Mary as his wife. He knew that God had a wonderful plan for them, a plan that would bring joy and hope to the whole world.

And so, Mary and Joseph waited with love and joy for the birth of the baby Jesus, the Son of God, who would come to bring peace and love to all hearts. Mary would always remember the visit of the angel Gabriel and the shining secret he had shared with her, the secret of being the mother of Jesus.
