Mateo lived on a warm island. The sun was big and yellow. Then, he went on a plane. Zoom! Zoom! Up in the sky! Mateo arrived in the Bronx. The buildings were very tall. The city was very loud. Beep! Beep! Honk! Honk! Mateo felt very small. He went to his new school. The halls were long. The kids were fast. Whoosh! Whoosh! They ran by. Mateo was quiet. He missed his island home. It was time for gym class. Mateo saw a big orange ball. Boing! Boing! The ball bounced. Mateo caught the ball. He looked at the hoop. He took a big jump. Swish! The ball went in! “Nice job!” a boy said. The boy had a blue shirt. Mateo smiled a big smile. The Bronx was big. The Bronx was loud. But Mateo was happy now. Bounce! Bounce! Play ball!
