In a quiet village nestled between tall mountains and whispering pines lived a girl named Mira. She had wild curls like tangled ivy and eyes as bright as the morning sun. Every day, she would wander into the forest, where the air smelled of moss and the trees seemed to hum with secrets. One day, as she skipped along a mossy path, she heard a strange, sweet sound coming from a huge tree with bark like silver and leaves that shimmered like gold.
"Hello?" Mira called, stepping closer. "Who’s there?"
The tree swayed gently, and a voice like wind through reeds replied, "I am the Singing Tree, and I am very sad."
Mira tilted her head. "Why are you sad?"
"A long time ago, a boy tried to cut me down with an axe, and I lost my voice. I have been silent ever since."
Mira’s heart ached. She had heard stories about that boy, who had tried to harm the forest, but no one had ever spoken of the tree. "I wish I could help you," she said. "But how?"
The tree rustled its leaves. "If you can find the Heart of the Forest, a seed that glows in the center of the woods, and plant it beside me, I may sing again."
Mira didn’t hesitate. She packed a small satchel with berries and a tin of honey for the journey. She climbed over hills and through thickets, asking the animals for help. A wise old owl showed her the way, and a gentle fox shared a path through the thorns. At last, she reached the center of the forest, where a tiny glowing seed sat on a mossy stone.
She carefully placed the seed beside the Singing Tree. The tree shivered and then began to hum softly, like a lullaby. The sound grew stronger and brighter, filling the forest with music that made the birds dance and the flowers bloom. Mira laughed with joy, tears of happiness in her eyes.
"Thank you, Mira," the tree said. "You have given me my voice again, and now I will sing for all who come to listen."
From that day on, Mira was known as the girl who spoke to the forest. She visited the Singing Tree often, and its music became a part of the village’s life. Children would gather to listen, and the villagers would bring gifts of fruit and honey to the tree in thanks.
Mira learned that kindness and courage could change even the saddest of hearts, and that sometimes, the smallest act of love could create the greatest magic.
