The Sharing Tree

A partir de: A magical tree grows whatever fruit you share — share an apple and it grows ten, keep it all and it grows nothing.

Pip the squirrel discovers a magical silver tree that multiplies any fruit offered to it. After a brief bout of greed, Pip learns that true abundance comes only when he shares his bounty with his forest friends.

Deep in the heart of the Whispering Woods, where the moss is as soft as a velvet pillow and the brooks hum lullabies to the stones, stood a tree unlike any other. It didn’t have the rough brown bark of the oaks or the trembling leaves of the aspens. This tree had bark that shimmered like a pearl and leaves that glowed with a soft, silvery light, even in the middle of the day. The animals called it the Sharing Tree, though its secret had been tucked away in silence for many years. Pip was a small squirrel with a very large tail and an even larger appetite. He spent his days scurrying from branch to branch, collecting every nut and berry he could find. Pip was a worrier. He worried about long winters, he worried about rainy days, and most of all, he worried that he wouldn't have enough to eat. He had a hollowed-out log filled to the brim with acorns, but he still wanted more. One golden afternoon, Pip stumbled upon the clearing where the Sharing Tree stood. It looked lonely. Its silver branches were bare, reaching up toward the blue sky as if asking for a hug. Pip happened to have the most magnificent red apple tucked under his arm. It was juicy, round, and smelled of sunshine. His tummy gave a little rumble. “I should save this,” Pip whispered to himself. But then, he looked at the tree. It looked so hungry, so empty. For the first time in his life, Pip felt a spark of something other than worry. He felt a spark of kindness. “Here,” Pip said, placing the apple gently against the pearly bark of the tree. “You look like you need this more than I do.” As soon as the apple touched the bark, the silver leaves began to chime like tiny bells. The ground beneath Pip’s paws gave a warm, gentle thrum. The apple didn't just sit there; it seemed to melt into the tree, turning into a glowing light that raced up the trunk. Then, with a sound like a soft 'pop,' the bare branches exploded with color. Where there had been one apple, there were now ten! They were even redder, even juicier, and even more fragrant than the one Pip had given. Pip gasped. “It’s magic!” he cried. He filled his arms with the ten apples and raced back to his log. He felt like the richest squirrel in the woods. But as he sat alone in his dark log, surrounded by his piles of food, he started to think. “If I give the tree one of these apples, will it give me ten more? And then if I give it those ten, will I have a hundred?”
