In a cozy village where bedtime came early and dreams were always sweet, there lived a child named Milo who loved nothing more than counting his socks before bed. But one night, Milo discovered something strange: his favorite blue socks were gone! He checked every drawer, every corner of his room, and even peeked under his bed — nothing. Just as he was about to cry, a loud *snort* came from the closet. Out popped a tiny, grumpy monster with a sock in its mouth.
"You’re the sock-eater!" Milo gasped, pointing a finger. The monster blinked its one eye and said, "I’m not eating them — I’m collecting them for my sock museum. But I only have one sock per exhibit, and I need a pair to make it balanced!"
Milo thought for a moment, then remembered the old dragon who lived in the forest. He ran to the dragon’s cave, where the great, sleepy beast was snoring so loudly that the rocks shook. "Wake up, Sir Dragon!" Milo shouted. The dragon opened one eye. "What’s the matter, little one?"
"There’s a sock monster stealing socks, and it needs a pair to be happy!" Milo explained. The dragon yawned, then said, "I know just what to do. Follow me."
Together, they went back to the closet, where the monster was now munching on a red sock. The dragon roared, "Monster! Give me that sock!" The monster jumped back, dropping the sock. Milo quickly grabbed it and handed it to the dragon. Then, he pulled out his favorite blue socks and handed them to the monster. The monster blinked, then smiled. "Thank you, little one. My museum is now complete."
As the monster scurried off, Milo and the dragon watched it go, then laughed together. From that day on, the monster only took one sock at a time — just enough for a balanced exhibit. And Milo always made sure to count his socks before bed, just in case.
Moral: Sometimes, the smallest problem can be solved with a little kindness and a lot of imagination.
