The Secret of Jacha Punta: The Midnight Door

In the small community of Salla Chucho, nestled high in the Andes, stood Jacha Punta, a huge rock that dominated the landscape. The elders whispered stories about it, legends of ancient times. The most intriguing was the story of the Midnight Door. They said that, only on the darkest night of the year, right at midnight, a magical door would open in Jacha Punta, revealing a path to a world of dreams and adventures.

There were three children in Salla Chucho who burned with curiosity: Illari, the girl with eyes bright as the stars; Wayra, the mischievous boy with a laugh like the wind; and Nina, the shy girl who loved listening to the stories of the elders. One night, while helping their families prepare for the winter solstice festival, they heard Grandma Mama Killa talk about the Midnight Door.

"They say," whispered Mama Killa, "that behind that door there is a garden full of singing flowers and a river of hot chocolate."

The children's eyes widened. A river of hot chocolate! Singing flowers! They had to see it.

When the longest night of the year fell, Illari, Wayra, and Nina sneaked out of their homes. The moon, hidden behind the clouds, made everything seem mysterious and full of shadows. With lanterns made from hollowed-out pumpkins, they headed toward Jacha Punta.

The path was steep and full of stones, but excitement pushed them forward. When they reached the base of the rock, they felt a cold wind that made their skin prickle. Nina looked at her watch: it was almost midnight.

"It's about to happen!" exclaimed Wayra, eyes full of excitement.

Suddenly, a faint glow began to emanate from a crack in the rock. The crack grew larger, revealing a golden light door. The children held hands, feeling a little fear, but also great curiosity.

Illari took a step forward and pushed the door. With a soft creak, the door opened, revealing a dark but warm passage.

"Shall we go in?" asked Nina, her voice trembling.

"Of course!" answered Wayra, stepping into the passage.

As they entered, the door closed behind them with a soft click. They found themselves in a tunnel lit by glowing fireflies. The air smelled of sweet flowers and chocolate.

"It's true!" exclaimed Illari, inhaling the delicious aroma.

The tunnel led them to a magical garden. Flowers of all colors sang cheerful melodies. Giant butterflies fluttered among the flowers, and small winged rabbits hopped everywhere. In the center of the garden, a river of hot chocolate bubbled happily.

The children couldn't believe what they saw. It was even more wonderful than they had imagined. They drank hot chocolate from the river, which tasted like glory, and played with the winged rabbits.

Suddenly, they heard a soft voice: "Welcome, children of Salla Chucho."

Before them appeared an old woman wearing a dress woven from stars. She was Mama Sara, the guardian of Jacha Punta.

"I have been waiting for your visit," said Mama Sara. "This door only opens for those with a pure heart and great curiosity."

Mama Sara told them stories about the importance of caring for nature and respecting the traditions of their ancestors. She taught them ancient songs and showed them the secrets of the magical garden.

But time in the world of dreams passes quickly. Mama Sara warned them they had to return before dawn. She gave each of them a magical seed that, when planted, would always remind them of their adventure.

With sadness, they said goodbye to Mama Sara and returned through the tunnel. The door of Jacha Punta opened for them just before the sun began to rise. When they came out, the door disappeared, leaving only the imposing rock.

Back in Salla Chucho, they planted the magical seeds. From each seed grew a unique flower that softly sang when the wind blew. From that day on, Illari, Wayra, and Nina became the guardians of Jacha Punta and the protectors of their community's traditions. They never forgot the Midnight Door and the magical world they found behind it. And every year, on the darkest night, they returned to Jacha Punta, hoping with the hope that the door would open again, ready for another adventure.
