One quiet night, as the stars blinked awake, a small, shy cloud named Milo floated high above the sleepy forest. Milo was different from the other clouds—he was soft and round, like a marshmallow, and he had never seen the moon shine with its full, glowing light. Every night, he watched the moon from afar, wondering, 'Why is the moon so bright and full, while I am just a little puff of white?'
One evening, as Milo drifted past the treetops, he heard a soft, musical voice. 'Hello, little cloud,' said the moon, glowing gently in the sky. Milo was surprised. 'You can talk?' he asked. The moon smiled. 'Of course. I have been waiting for you.'
'Waiting for me?' Milo asked, fluffing his edges with excitement. 'Why?'
'Because you are the first cloud in many years to ask me that question,' the moon replied. 'I have a secret to share with you. But you must promise to keep it safe.' Milo nodded eagerly.
The moon told Milo that she was not always so bright. Long ago, she was as small and dim as he was. But one night, a kind star named Luma gave her a gift—a shard of stardust that made her shine. 'But the stardust is not enough,' the moon said. 'I need a heart full of kindness and a friend to share it with.'
Milo thought about this. He had always been alone, floating far above the forest, never making friends. But now, he had a friend in the moon, and he had the stardust to share. 'I will help you!' he said. 'I will bring you more stardust from the stars!'
The next night, Milo flew to the stars and asked Luma for more stardust. Luma smiled. 'The stardust is not just for the moon. It is for anyone who shares it.' She gave Milo a tiny sprinkle of stardust, which he carried back to the moon. As soon as he gave it to her, the moon shone even brighter.
The forest below began to glow, and animals peeked out from their homes. A rabbit hopped up to Milo and said, 'You brought light to our night!' Milo smiled. 'The moon did, but I helped.' And from that day on, Milo was never alone again. He shared stardust with other clouds, and they all learned to shine, just like the moon.
As the night grew deep and the stars twinkled, Milo floated above the forest, watching the moon glow with a warm, gentle light. He was no longer a little puff of white—he was a cloud with a heart full of kindness, and the forest was full of stars because of him. And so, every night, the moon and Milo shone together, lighting the way for all who dreamed.
