Max was a small, scruffy dog with a love for shiny things—especially his favorite red socks. Every morning, he would sniff them on the floor and wag his tail, as if they were treasures. But one sunny afternoon, Max woke up to find one of his socks missing. He barked and howled, but no one came. So, with his nose in the air and his tail high, he set off on a mission to find the lost sock.
Max trotted past the garden where Mrs. Willow watered her roses, and she offered him a treat. He politely declined, saying, 'I’m looking for my sock!' She laughed and said, 'Be careful, little one, the wind might have taken it.' Max thanked her and continued on, sniffing the ground and looking up at the trees. Soon, he heard a rustling in the bushes. Out popped a shy hedgehog named Pippin, who had a sock in his claws. 'I found this,' he said, holding it up. 'Will you trade me for a leaf?' Max thought for a moment, then offered a crumb from his pocket. Pippin smiled and handed over the sock.
With both socks back, Max ran home, barking with joy. His human, Lila, laughed and gave him a belly rub. 'You found your sock, clever boy!' she said. Max wagged his tail and looked at Pippin, who was now sitting on the porch with a leaf in his hand. From that day on, Max and Pippin were best friends, and they would often go on little adventures together, always remembering to share and be kind.
The next morning, Max woke up with a new pair of socks—this time, one blue and one green. He wore them proudly, knowing that with a little help from a friend, even the smallest problem could be solved with kindness and a wagging tail.
