A Funny Bedtime Story About a Tardy Turkey

Once upon a time, in a cozy forest filled with whispering trees and giggling squirrels, there lived a little turkey named Tilly. Tilly loved bedtime stories more than anything in the world—especially when the other animals gathered under the big oak tree to hear tales of bravery, friendship, and the occasional giggly ghost. Every night, they would light up the forest with tiny lanterns and gather in a circle, waiting for Tilly to read her favorite story, which was always about a clever fox named Felix.

One night, Tilly woke up late. She had been so excited about the story party that she had fallen asleep reading her own book. When she finally stumbled out of her nest, the forest was already buzzing with chatter. “Where’s Tilly?” the rabbits asked. “She’s always the first to arrive!” the badgers said. Tilly’s heart dropped. She was late for her own bedtime story party! That was the worst thing that could happen. Without Tilly, the story party would be incomplete.

Panicking, Tilly dashed through the forest, her feathers flapping wildly. She tripped over a log, rolled into a pile of leaves, and ended up covered in mud. “Oh no, oh no, oh no!” she cried, wiping her beak. “I’m going to miss the story!” Just then, she heard a giggle. It was Felix the fox, sitting under the oak tree with a book in his paws. “I’ve been waiting for you, Tilly!” he said with a wink. “I brought a special story just for you.”

Tilly gasped with relief. “You brought a story for me?” Felix nodded. “Yes, it’s about a little turkey who was late for the story party and had to run all the way through the forest to get there.” Tilly blinked. “Wait… that sounds like me!” Felix smiled. “That’s because it is. I made it up just now, and I’ve been waiting for you to come and hear it.”

The other animals cheered as Tilly joined them. She sat down with a thump and listened to the story, which was full of funny mishaps, including a very confused owl who mistook her for a chicken and a squirrel who tried to help but ended up making a bigger mess. Tilly laughed so hard that she almost fell off the log she was sitting on. When the story ended, she felt warm, sleepy, and happy. “That was the best bedtime story ever,” she said, yawning.

From that day on, Tilly made sure to be on time for every story party. She even started a new tradition: if anyone was late, they had to tell a funny bedtime story as a gift to the group. And so, the forest filled with laughter, stories, and the soft sound of animals snuggling into their nests, ready for a peaceful night’s sleep.

And Tilly, the sleepy little turkey, always made sure to be the first one there. Because, as she learned, punctuality might not be the most fun thing, but it sure makes for the best bedtime stories.
