In a quiet village nestled between rolling hills and whispering woods, there lived a curious girl named Elowen. She had a heart full of wonder and a voice that sang to the wind. One twilight, as the sky turned the color of lavender, Elowen wandered into the oldest part of the forest, where the trees grew tall and the air was thick with stories waiting to be told.
As she walked, the trees seemed to lean closer, their leaves rustling in a language she almost understood. Then, she came upon a willow tree unlike any other—its branches swayed even when there was no breeze, and its bark shimmered like silver in the fading light. Drawn by a strange pull, Elowen reached out to touch it, and the moment her fingers brushed the bark, a soft voice spoke in her ear: 'Welcome, child. I have been waiting for you.'
The willow introduced itself as the Guardian of the Lost Lullaby, a song once sung by the first queen of the forest to lull the sleeping earth to rest. But over time, the lullaby was forgotten, and with it, the forest began to wither. 'The lullaby must be found again,' the willow said, 'and only a heart as kind as yours can help.'
Elowen listened carefully as the willow told her of the song’s last echo, hidden deep within the heart of the forest. She set off with a lantern and her voice, determined to find the lost melody. The journey was long and filled with wonder—she met fireflies that danced in time with her singing, stones that hummed when she placed her hand on them, and a little fox who offered her a flower that glowed softly in the dark.
At last, Elowen reached a hidden glade where the air shimmered like morning dew. In the center stood a stone altar, and on it lay a silver harp. When she approached, the harp sang a soft, familiar tune that tugged at her heart. She closed her eyes, listened, and then began to sing. Her voice rose and fell like the tide, and as she sang, the trees around her swayed, the flowers bloomed, and the air grew warm with life.
The willow tree listened, its branches trembling with joy. 'You have found the lullaby, child,' it whispered. 'And you have restored the heart of the forest.' With a final note, Elowen’s song faded into the night, and the forest sighed in contentment, as if it had been dreaming for centuries.
From that day on, Elowen would sometimes sit beneath the willow and sing to the trees, knowing that kindness and music could heal even the oldest wounds. And the willow, ever grateful, would whisper back with stories of the forest, reminding her of the magic that lived in the world when hearts were open and songs were shared.
