Cornelio, the Coffee-Crow

Cornelio was a different kind of crow. He didn’t like fat, juicy worms or shiny seeds. Cornelio loved… coffee! A delicious aroma that came from Grandma Elena’s window in the countryside had enchanted him since he was a baby. Every morning, Cornelio flew to the window to inhale the intoxicating scent of freshly brewed coffee. One day, Grandma Elena saw him and offered him a sip. It was love at first taste!

But in the countryside, coffee was an occasional luxury. Cornelio dreamed of coffee, thought about coffee, breathed… well, more like inhaled… coffee. So, he made a bold decision: he would move to the city! He had heard rumors of a magical place called "The Café," where people gathered to drink coffee all day long.

He packed his few belongings (a shiny feather he had found and a smooth pebble that reminded him of a coffee bean) into a small backpack made of dried leaves and set off on a flight toward the big city. The city was noisy, full of honking cars and people walking in a hurry. At first, Cornelio felt a little lost. But he followed his nose, guided by the unmistakable scent of coffee.

Finally, he found "The Café." It was a cozy place, with tables outside and a sign that said "The Coffee Corner." Cornelio perched on a nearby tree and watched. People came and went, carrying steaming cups. It was paradise! But how was he going to get coffee? He had no money. Crows don’t usually carry wallets.

Cornelio thought and thought. He was a smart crow. He remembered that Grandma Elena always said, "Creativity is the best currency." So, Cornelio decided to use his talents. He started to sing. His voice, though a bit rough, was surprisingly melodic. He sang songs he had heard in the countryside, cheerful melodies about the sun, trees, and… coffee!

People stopped to listen. They loved the singing crow. A boy threw a coin. Then another boy. Soon, Cornelio had a small pile of coins at his feet. He had earned money by singing! Carefully, he flew to the café window and dropped a coin on the counter.

"Could I… have coffee?" he asked shyly.

The barista, a kind young woman with her hair braided, smiled. "Of course! What kind of coffee would you like?"

Cornelio didn’t know what to say. He had never had so many choices. "The most delicious one!" he exclaimed.

The barista made him a small coffee with milk, especially for him. Cornelio tasted it, and his eyes lit up. It was the best coffee he had ever had in his life!

From that day on, Cornelio became a sensation at "The Coffee Corner." He sang every morning, and in return, the barista gave him coffee. He became friends with the customers, who enjoyed listening to his songs and gave him small treats (though Cornelio preferred coffee to cookies).

One day, a girl named Sofía approached Cornelio. "I love your voice," she said. "Could you teach me to sing?"

Cornelio was surprised. He had never thought of teaching anyone. But Sofía was a sweet girl and reminded him of himself when he was a baby. So, he agreed. Together, they practiced songs in the park, Sofía singing with her soft voice and Cornelio adding his unique touch.

Cornelio realized he had found something more valuable than coffee: friendship and the joy of sharing his talent. Although he loved his daily coffee, what truly made him happy was making others happy. And so, Cornelio, the coffee-crow, found his place in the city, singing songs and drinking coffee, surrounded by friends and full of joy.
