Every evening, she would sit on the porch of her cottage, playing soft tunes that made the fireflies dance and the stars twinkle in rhythm.

One evening, as Lila played, a tiny figure with a crooked grin and a patch over one eye appeared. 'You have a lovely cornet,' he said, his voice like wind chimes. 'I am Rumpelstiltskin, and I would like to play it, if you don't mind.'

Lila looked at the creature with wide eyes. 'You're very small,' she said kindly. 'But I would be honored to let you play.' Rumpelstiltskin chuckled, took the cornet, and played a tune so wild and bright that the entire village woke up, dancing in the moonlight. But when the music ended, he left behind a single golden coin and a riddle: 'What is the most precious thing in the world?' Lila thought about it for a long time, but could not answer.

The next evening, Rumpelstiltskin returned. 'You must answer my riddle,' he said. 'If you do, I will grant you a wish. If not, I shall take your cornet forever.' Lila thought of all the things that were precious to her — her parents, her grandfather's music, the way the sun felt on her face. Finally, she said, 'The most precious thing in the world is kindness.'

Rumpelstiltskin blinked in surprise, then laughed. 'You are clever, little one! But I must take your cornet now, for I have promised to do so if you fail.' Lila, though sad, handed him the cornet without a fight. But as he turned to leave, she called out, 'Wait! What is your name?' He paused, and for the first time, looked uncertain. 'My name is... Rumpelstiltskin,' he said, then vanished into the night.

The next day, Lila sat on the porch again, thinking. She had given up her cornet, but something inside her had changed. She no longer feared Rumpelstiltskin — she understood him. So, she played her cornet again, but this time, the music was different. It was not just beautiful — it was warm and full of hope. The wind carried the melody into the woods, and soon, Rumpelstiltskin returned, but this time, he was not alone. He had brought a small, golden cornet of his own, and he asked, 'May I play with you?'
