One chilly autumn evening in the village of Clonmel, young Eileen wandered past her grandmother’s garden, where the wind whispered secrets through the tall grass. Together, they pushed and pulled until the wheel was loose. Mr. O’Rourke gave Eileen a warm apple and a smile. “You’ve made my day, little one,” he said. “Thank you.” Eileen felt a warm glow in her chest, like the cabbages in her grandmother’s garden. She ran back to the patch, where the Moonlit Cabbage pulsed with light.

“Did you help someone?” the cabbage asked. “Yes,” Eileen said. “I helped Mr. O’Rourke.” The cabbage nodded. “Then your wish is ready. What would you like?” Eileen thought for a moment. “I wish for my grandmother to feel better,” she said. “She’s been sick for a while.”
