One sunny afternoon at Pinebrook Kindergarten, the children were excited for the annual school fair. The highlight of the day was the ice cream van, which had promised to bring their favorite treats. But when the van didn’t arrive, the kids were puzzled. “Where is the ice cream?” asked little Mia, her eyes wide with worry. “Maybe it got lost,” said Sam, who had a habit of pretending to be a detective. The teacher, Mrs. Whisker, smiled gently and said, “Let’s find out together.”
The children split into small groups and began to search the playground. They checked behind the slide, under the swings, and even asked the garden gnomes if they had seen the van. Just as they were about to give up, a soft giggle echoed from the corner of the field. There, behind a bush, sat a small, round monster with a cone-shaped hat and a tummy full of ice cream. “I was hungry,” he said, looking up with big, round eyes. “I just wanted some ice cream for myself.”
The children didn’t shout or run. Instead, they sat down with the monster and asked him questions. They learned that the van had gotten stuck in the mud near the fence. “We can help you!” said Lila. Together, they used ropes and blocks to pull the van free. When it was finally moving, the monster handed them a cone each, and they all laughed and shared the rest with him. The fair continued, and the children felt proud of what they had done.
From that day on, the monster became a friend to the kindergarten class, and every year, he helped bring the ice cream van to the fair. The children learned that kindness and teamwork could solve even the trickiest problems. And whenever they saw a monster, they smiled, knowing that even the friendliest monsters could use a little help now and then.
