One night, when the stars were twinkling like tiny silver buttons and the moon had just slipped behind a cloud, a little owl named Ollie sat on the edge of his tree branch, wide-eyed and wide awake. The forest was quiet, and the wind whispered stories through the leaves. Ollie had tried to sleep for hours, but his thoughts were too busy, his feet too wiggly, and his feathers too restless.
"I need a lullaby," he said to himself, fluttering down to the forest floor. He walked past the snoring fox, the giggling rabbits, and the whispering ferns, all of whom were already fast asleep. But Ollie could not find a song that made his heart slow down. He tried humming, but it sounded like a frog in a teapot. He tried tapping his beak like a drum, but that only woke up the fireflies.
Just then, a soft, sleepy voice called from the treetops. "Would you like to hear a lullaby, little owl?" Ollie turned to see a silver-scaled moonbeam, glowing gently in the shape of a rabbit. "I can sing you a song that will make even the stars yawn," it said. Ollie listened, and the moonbeam’s voice was like the rustle of leaves, the hush of rain, and the whisper of dreams. It sang of moonlit flowers, of sleeping trees, of dreams that fluff up like clouds. Ollie’s eyes grew heavy, and he felt his body relax like a soft blanket.
When the song ended, Ollie yawned and stretched his wings. "That was the best lullaby I’ve ever heard," he said, blinking slowly. The moonbeam smiled and said, "The softest lullabies come from the heart, and the night is full of gentle magic." And with that, Ollie curled up in his nest and fell into the deepest, sweetest sleep ever.
